Backpacker Hostel Accommodation on the Isle of Skye, Scotland…

Welcome to the Isle of Skye!

                                         CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

We are delighted to finally be able to re-open our doors for the first time since March 2020. As we are currently still under significant government regulations we can only offer rooms for sole occupancy by one household or extended household bubble until the 19th of July. During this period, each bedroom is allocated  use of a specific shower and toilet. In some instances, you may share these facilities with a maximum of one other household and additional cleaning schedules are in place along with cleaning materials in each facility for guests to use should you wish. Unfortunately during this time we are unable to offer use of our communal facilities.

From the 19th of July until the 8th of August, we are able to offer shared bedrooms with a maximum of 4 households sharing a room. Social distancing rules are reduced from 2m to 1m which means we will be able to reintroduce our communal areas and guests are required to distance from other guests and staff during this time.

The 9th of August is the magic date all hostels have been patiently waiting for as all restrictions are scheduled to be removed. From this date onward, we hope to offer you all an affordable, inclusive and sociable environment. We really can’t wait!

In the meantime, we are doing our very best to ensure that those of you who chose to stay with us feel safe whilst doing so. We have introduced multiple safety measures as a result of carrying out a detailed Covid Risk Assessment. If you would like us to send you a copy, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Situated on the West coast of mainland Scotland, Skye is the largest and best known of the Inner Hebridean Islands.

Skye Backpackers is located in the picturesque fishing village of Kyleakin and is surrounded by mountains and sea.

It’s a small, cozy hostel with an open fire in the lounge, a lovely backyard garden, great self-catering kitchen and a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Kyleakin is the perfect base for exploring this magnificent Island and, unlike larger settlements on Skye, it is small enough to allow you to meet the friendly locals, enjoy a lively pub scene and above all, experience the tranquillity of its stunning seaside location.

Whatever you’re looking for – hillwalking, sightseeing, kayaking, mountain biking or the legendary faeries, this island will not disappoint. Our lovely hostel staff can also help arrange bus tours, boat trips and bike hire!

Kyleakin is on the main bus route and is also easily accessible  from the train station at Kyle on the mainland. The village offers a shop, cafĂ©,  pubs and spectacular scenic views.

Isle of Skye

One of Europe’s most dramatic and haunting lands, words can do little justice in describing the awesome beauty of the Isle of Skye. The majestic Cuillin Mountains dominate the rugged landscape, which is peppered with lochs, glens and tiny fishing villages.
